Panasonic GH6 vs OM System OM-1 Size Comparison
Now that the OM System OM-1 is officially released and the specs of the Panasonic Lumix DC-GH6 mostly leaked, we have enough information to start comparing these two cameras and have a better idea about how they differentiate from the other. The OM-1 got a lot of attention from the MFT users recently and deservingly so due to its impressive feature set and the new Stacked BSI sensor. The GH6 is no slouch either, it is one beast of a video-first hybrid camera for sure and not to mention the new 25.2 MP Live MOS sensor, highest resolution MFT sensor in a production camera.
Panasonic GH6 vs OM System OM-1 Top View Size Comparison
Despite their very competitive feature sets, our personal opinion is that the decision between these two cameras is much easier than before. From the specs, it is not hard to realize that the GH6 is even more video focused than before compared any other GH series cameras , especially with the addition of Active Cooling fan ( as in Panasonic S1H) which made the body much thicker. OM-1 on the other hand chose to keep the resolution at 20MP but use a very fast reading Stacked BSI CMOS sensor and improved AF system with excellent subject tracking, while keeping the body size as compact as possible.
So if video is your first and biggest priority, get the GH6. For everything else (stills or hybrid use), OM-1 is the better all-rounder camera. But don't listen to us and decide for yourself. here is the specs comparison:
