If you are connecting your camera to your PC for direct video recording to your hard disk or live stream a video, connecting your camera to Field/Recording monitors, or view your photos and videos on a large screen TV, you have to deal with the HDMI cables. Most cameras historically had Micro or Mini HDMI ports so you have to either use an adapter or buy special HDMI cables with standard HDMI on one end and micro/mini HDMI on the other which is a big inconvenience.
