A waveform in video cameras is a graphical representation that shows the luminance (brightness) levels of a video signal, allowing filmmakers and videographers to see how bright or dark different parts of the image are. The main advantage of using a waveform is its precision in assessing exposure, helping to ensure that no details are lost in the highlights or shadows. Currently there are only 34 cameras with Waveform. The latest released Waveform cameras are the Sony FX5, the Canon R6 V and the Canon R6 III.
