I've been wondering if I'm the only one who thinks Canon urgently needs to expand its lineup of high-resolution RF-mount mirrorless cameras. As it stands, the highest-resolution model they offer is the Canon EOS R5—and its cinema variant, the R5 C—both featuring a 45MP full-frame sensor. Next in line is the 33MP EOS R7 with an APS-C sensor, followed by several models at 24MP or 20MP, including the flagship EOS R3(24MP). Isn’t that a bit odd?

Interestingly, the highest-resolution cameras in Canon's catalog are still the EOS 5DS R and EOS EOS 5DS cameras, both released in 2015 with 51MP full-frame sensors, surpassing any RF-mount mirrorless models!
In comparison, Sony boasts three 61MP cameras (A7R V, A7CR, and A7R IV )and a 50MP model (Alpha A1) in its E-mount lineup. I sincerely hope Canon will soon release at least two new bodies in addition to the R5 Mark II, each with a resolution of 45MP or higher. Ideally, one would be the long-rumored flagship EOS R1, and another, a more affordable mid-level model priced under $3000, similar to Sony’s A7CR and Nikon’s Z7 II. This would provide RF mount users with more options and potentially attract new users to the ecosystem.
