Fujifilm X-T5 Sensor and Photography Features

Fujifilm X-T5 has a 40.2MP APS-C (23.5 x 15.6 mm ) sized BSI-CMOS sensor and features X-Processor 5 processor. You can shoot at maximum resolution of 7728 x 5152 pixels with aspect ratios of 1:1, 3:2 and 16:9. X-T5 has a native ISO range of 125 - 12800 which can be boosted to 64-51200 and it can save files in RAW format which gives you a wider room for post processing.

    Fujifilm X-T5 Sensor
    Fujifilm X-T5's BSI-CMOS Sensor

Fujifilm X-T5 is the highest resolution APS-C camera in our database. The closest competitor in this class is Fujifilm X-H2 with its 40.2MP sensor. Check the comparison of Fujifilm X-T5 vs Fujifilm X-H2 or take a look at Highest resolution Mirrorless cameras list.

    High Resolution Mode

Fujifilm X-T5 has a special High Resolution mode where the camera takes multiple images of a scene while moving its sensor using the sensor shift image stabilization system and combine them automatically to create a 160 MP MP image. This feature works best with static scenes and using a tripod is a must to minimize stitching artifacts.

    Anti-Aliasing Filter

Another important feature about Fujifilm X-T5's sensor is the lack of anti-alias (Low-pass) filter. Removing anti-aliasing filter increases the sharpness and level of detail but on the other side it also increases the chance of moiré occurring in certain scenes.

Let's look at how the size of the Fujifilm X-T5's APS-C sensor compares with other standard sensor sizes.

    Fujifilm X-T5 LCD and Viewfinder

Fujifilm X-T5 has a Tilting 3.00-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1,840k dots. Tilting screens are more photography oriented while Fully articulated screens are highly preferred by videographers. Both the screen size and the screen resolution is up to the standards of this class.

LCD is Touch screen type, so you can change the settings and set the focus point with your fingertips.

Fujifilm X-T5 back view and LCD

Unfortunately Fujifilm X-T5 doesn't have a Selfie friendly screen. If this feature is important for your shooting style, check here the list of Best Mirrorless Cameras with Selfie Friendly LCD screen.

X-T5 has a built-in Electronic viewfinder, making it easier to shoot in direct sunlight and in other situations where it might be difficult to view the LCD monitor. The viewfinder has a resolution of 3,690kdots and coverage of 100%. The Viewfinder Eye Point distance is 23mm . 100% coverage ensures that what you see in the viewfinder while shooting matches exactly what you will get later in your image, helping accurate framing your shots and minimizes the need for cropping images later. The magnification ratio of the viewfinder is 0.8x (35mm equivalent).

Fujifilm X-T5 Connectivity, Storage and Battery

Fujifilm X-T5 features built-in wireless (Wi-Fi) connectivity ( 802.11b/g/n/ac + Bluetooth) which lets you transfer your photos directly to compatible devices without any physical connection. Fujifilm X-T5's Bluetooth connectivity feature comes handy for connecting other devices that supports it. One other feature that we like is the ability to use our smartphone as a remote to control our X-T5. You can change camera settings, release shutter, view LCD screen and tranfer files using remote control app.

You can connect X-T5 to compatible devices via its HDMI port or USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 GBit/sec) port.

Fujifilm X-T5 also features USB charging capability which let's you charge your camera via a usb cable without removing the battery.

    Fujifilm X-T5 Video Features

With Fujifilm X-T5, you can record your videos at a highest resolution of 6240 x 4160 at 30p fps and save in MPEG-4, H.264 and H.265 formats. This means that Fujifilm X-T5 provides an impressive 6K video, only second to 8K cameras in high resolution. Although it is not a very widely used format, it gives the user enough extra room over 4K to do cropping or high quality sampling in post-process.

    Video Resolutions Comparison Chart

A great advantage of Fujifilm X-T5 while shooting video at resolution of 4K is that there is no crop factor so you can use your lens at its actual focal length.

    No Video Recording Limit

Fujifilm X-T5 doesn't have the 30 minutes max video recording limitation that many cameras have, so you can keep recording non-stop until either your storage is full or battery is depleted or the camera over-heats.

    High-Speed Video

X-T5 features a high speed mode where it captures videos at 120fps which helps to create slow motion videos. If you shoot a video at a frame rate of 120fps and play it back at 24fps, the video will be 5x slower and longer than normal.

    Microphones, Speaker and Headphone Connections

Fujifilm X-T5 has a built-in Stereo microphone and a Mono speaker. Fujifilm X-T5 also has a port for an external microphone and a headphone port for connecting external headphones which make Fujifilm X-T5 a very suitable camera high quality videography.

If you are getting into videography and want to know what are the must-have video accessories for your camera, read our article:
Essential Videography / Filmmaking Accessories for your Camera

    Fujifilm X-T5 Other Features

    Max Shutter speed

Fujifilm X-T5 can shoot continuously at max speed of 15.0 fps and has max shutter speed of 1/8000 sec. X-T5 also has an electronic shutter which can shoot silently at max speed of 1/180000s. One thing to keep in mind is that electronic shutter may cause rolling shutter / jello effects, and also banding issues under artificial light on your images.

    Flash

Unfortunately X-T5 doesn't have a built-in flash but it has a flash shoe for mounting external flashes.

    Focusing

Fujifilm X-T5 features both Contrast Detection and Phase Detection autofocus (AF) systems which ensures speed and accuracy of focusing in most situations. The AF system has 425 points to choose from.

Fujifilm X-T5 also features Face detection AF where it intelligently detects the faces in the frame and locks the focus automatically. In addition to the face detect AF, X-T5 has a more sophisticated feature called Eye Tracking AF which detects and locks focus to the selected eye of the person in the frame accurately and tracks as the subject moves. Eye tracking AF of Fujifilm X-T5 is a perfect feature for shooting portraits and is especially useful when fast lenses are used and the depth of field is very narrow.
