Canon EOS R5 Mark II Firmware Update fixes Touch and Drag AF Bug
Canon has rolled out a quick response update with firmware version 1.3.1 for the EOS R5 Mark II. This release serves as a targeted hotfix to resolve a specific issue introduced in the previous major firmware version.
The update directly addresses a glitch where the camera could malfunction when photographers utilized Touch and Drag AF while the system was set to Full Area AF. While the bug only impacted creators who heavily rely on that specific autofocus combination, the patch ensures smoother overall operational reliability.

This release follows closely on the heels of the massive v1.3.0 firmware update that was released back in May. That mid-May version introduced more than 15 significant features and enhancements to the camera, including optimized tracking for profile and obscured views, DPRAW shooting support, American football action priority tracking, and a built-in electronic level for video recording. Version 1.3.1 leaves all of those new capabilities intact while cleaning up the autofocus stability.
