Update July 10th.2025: Canon now officially released the RF 75-300mm lens in the USA for $219 as lens only, and it will be sold in kit with the EOS R100 and 18-45mm Lens for $799.
Canon RF 75-350mm F4-6.3 Lens
Canon resurrects a lens design from 1999 under the RF mount badge - but seriously, who asked for this? Sure, I get it. Canon wants an affordable telephoto zoom to bundle with entry-level cameras like the EOS R100 or R50 / R50 V. But couldn’t they have put in just a bit more effort to meet even some of today’s expectations?

What we’re really getting is a reboot of the Canon EF 75-300mm f4.0-5.6 III - not the USM or IS USM versions that at least had some modern touches. Canon stripped it down to the bare bones, clearly aiming for price over performance. But here’s the concern: instead of welcoming new users into the RF ecosystem, this lens might actually scare them off with its outdated design and autofocus system, and likely underwhelming image quality.

If you're after a more modern telephoto zoom for the RF mount, check out the RF 100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM below. It’s priced at $649 making it a bit more expensive and slightly larger than the 75-350mm, and it's about one stop slower across the zoom range. But in return, you get a much more capable lens: 6-stop effective Optical IS, faster and more reliable autofocus, longer reach, and full compatibility with Canon’s RF 1.4x and RF 2x extenders/teleconverters.

Price and Availability
At launch, the lens won’t be available in the US, but it will be sold in other regions. In the UK, it’s priced at £289.00, so if it eventually arrives stateside, we can expect a US price somewhere in the $350–$400 range. However, we think that most people will buy this in two lens kits which will cut its effective cost to around $200.
