    Weather Sealing

Canon R100 doesn't have any environmental sealings on its body so you got to be extra careful to protect it against water and dust. If you shoot under these conditions very often, consider checking Top Mirrorless Cameras with Weather Sealing page.

Canon R100 Lens Mount and Lenses

Canon R100 has a Canon RF lens mount and currently there are 39 native lenses available for this mount. Canon's new RF mount features a 54mm diameter and short 20mm flange-back distance, which makes it possible to design lenses that are faster and smaller than their EF mount equivalents. RF mount also provides a 12-pin electronic contact system for advanced autofocus and image stabilization capabilities, making it compatible to existing EF and EF-S-mount lenses via an optional EF-EOS R Mount Adapter.

Canon R100 doesn't have a sensor based image stabilization system but 27 of these lenses already comes with Optical Image Stabilization.

    Weather-sealed Lenses for Canon R100

There are 21 lenses with weather sealing for Canon R100 but bear in mind that R100 body doesn't have weather sealings.

Canon R100 Sensor and Photography Features

Canon R100 has a 24.0MP APS-C (22.3 x 14.9 mm ) sized CMOS sensor and features Digic 8 processor. You can shoot at maximum resolution of 6000 x 4000 pixels with aspect ratios of 1:1, 4:3, 3:2 and 16:9. R100 has a native ISO range of 100 - 12800 which can be boosted to 100-25600 and it can save files in RAW format which gives you a wider room for post processing.

Canon R100 is not the highest resolution APS-C camera. Fujifilm X-T5 with its 40.2MP sensor is leading in this class. Check the comparison of Canon R100 vs Fujifilm X-T5 or take a look at Highest resolution Mirrorless cameras list.

Let's look at how the size of the Canon R100's APS-C sensor compares with other standard sensor sizes.

    Canon R100 LCD and Viewfinder

Canon R100 has a Fixed 3.00-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1,040k dots. Both the screen size and the screen resolution is up to the standards of this class.

Canon R100 back view and LCD

Unfortunately Canon EOS R100 doesn't have a Selfie friendly screen. If this feature is important for your shooting style, check here the list of Best Mirrorless Cameras with Selfie Friendly LCD screen.

R100 has a built-in Electronic viewfinder, making it easier to shoot in direct sunlight and in other situations where it might be difficult to view the LCD monitor. The viewfinder has a resolution of 2,360kdots and coverage of 100%. 100% coverage ensures that what you see in the viewfinder while shooting matches exactly what you will get later in your image, helping accurate framing your shots and minimizes the need for cropping images later. The magnification ratio of the viewfinder is 0.59x (35mm equivalent).

Canon R100 Connectivity, Storage and Battery

Canon R100 features built-in wireless (Wi-Fi) connectivity ( 802.11b/g/n + Bluetooth) which lets you transfer your photos directly to compatible devices without any physical connection. Canon R100's Bluetooth connectivity feature comes handy for connecting other devices that supports it. One other feature that we like is the ability to use our smartphone as a remote to control our R100. You can change camera settings, release shutter, view LCD screen and tranfer files using remote control app.

You can connect R100 to compatible devices via its HDMI port or USB 2.0 (480 Mbit/sec) port.

Canon R100 is powered by LP-E17 battery which provides a battery life of 370 shots according to CIPA standards. Considering that the average battery life of Mirrorless type cameras is 387 shots, its battery life is about average in its class but it would still be wise to invest in some spare batteries for long photo trips.

With Canon R100, you can record your videos at a highest resolution of 3840 x 2160 at 24p fps with bit rates up to 120 mbps and save in MPEG-4 and H.264 formats. Canon R100's 4K is the common standard resolution in consumer video world.

    Video Resolutions Comparison Chart

    High-Speed Video

R100 features a high speed mode where it captures videos at 120fps which helps to create slow motion videos. If you shoot a video at a frame rate of 120fps and play it back at 24fps, the video will be 5x slower and longer than normal.

    Microphones, Speaker and Headphone Connections

Canon EOS R100 has a built-in Stereo microphone and a Mono speaker. Canon R100 also has a port for an external microphone so you can record high quality sound with the help of an external microphone. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a headphone port though.

    Electronic Video Stabilization

Canon R100 also features an Digital Video Stabilization mode where videos are stabilized in-camera while you are shooting. Keep in mind that this effect may crop your videos a little bit and doesn't help stabilizing still images. This kind of video stabilization effect can be replicated by using some of the advanced video editing softwares in your PC.

    Canon R100 Other Features

    Max Shutter speed

Canon R100 can shoot continuously at max speed of 6.5 fps and has max shutter speed of 1/4000 sec. R100 also has an electronic shutter which can shoot silently at max speed of 1/4000s. One thing to keep in mind is that electronic shutter may cause rolling shutter / jello effects, and also banding issues under artificial light on your images.

    Flash

R100 has a built-in flash, and it also has a flash shoe to mount your external flashes too.
    Canon R100 Built-in Flash
    Built-in Flash of Canon R100

    Focusing

Canon R100 features a Contrast Detection autofocusing system. The AF system has 3975 points to choose from.

Canon R100 also features Face detection AF where it intelligently detects the faces in the frame and locks the focus automatically. In addition to the face detect AF, R100 has a more sophisticated feature called Eye Tracking AF which detects and locks focus to the selected eye of the person in the frame accurately and tracks as the subject moves. Eye tracking AF of Canon R100 is a perfect feature for shooting portraits and is especially useful when fast lenses are used and the depth of field is very narrow.
