Update: B&H Photo publishes a product page for the Sony FX5
The Sony FX5 Is Coming Tomorrow, and We Have Thoughts
So, Sony just dropped a teaser for their next Cinema Line camera, and surprise, it is exactly what the rumor mill has been screaming about for weeks. The official reveal is set for tomorrow, July 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. EDT, but the teaser silhouette with the tagline Lighting the Way Forward basically confirms we are looking at the much-anticipated FX5.

If you were hoping for a simple FX3 update, think again. This thing is shaping up to be more of a mini Venice. Based on all the leaks, here is what we are likely getting:
- A 16.6-megapixel full-frame stacked CMOS sensor
- BIONZ XR2 processor with a dedicated AI autofocus unit
- 5K Open Gate recording in a 3:2 aspect ratio
- Triple base ISO (800, 4000, 12800)
- A VENICE-style menu system
People have been endlessly debating whether it will have a global shutter. Some reliable leakers swear by it, while others are holding out for the open gate 5K feature instead. If it actually has both, Canon and RED might need to start sweating.
Price and Availability
Sony has not officially confirmed the price tag yet, but all the official details regarding how much the FX5 will drain your bank account and when it will ship will drop tomorrow during the 10:00 a.m. EDT announcement.
