New Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo Cinema Camera
Fujifilm just announced the Instax Mini Evo Cinema, and it’s a bit of a departure from their usual instant camera lineup. We have reviewed the Instax Mini Evo and was very impressed with this little fun camera at that time. While the standard Mini Evo has been a popular hybrid for a few years, this new Cinema version leans heavily into retro video.

The "Super 8" Vibe
The first thing you’ll notice is the design. It moves away from the traditional camera shape and adopts a vertical grip inspired by the Fujica Single-8 (an 8mm movie camera from the 60s). It’s clearly designed to be held like a vintage camcorder, complete with a trigger-style shutter button and an optional viewfinder attachment.

Video-to-Print
The standout feature is its ability to record video clips up to 15 seconds long. Since you obviously can’t print a video onto film, Fujifilm uses a QR code system. You pick your favorite frame from the clip to print as a physical photo, and that photo includes a scannable QR code. When someone scans it with their phone, it plays the video clip.
It’s a clever way to bridge the gap between a physical keepsake and a digital memory, though whether people will actually take the time to scan prints remains to be seen.

The Eras Dial
Instead of the usual filters, this model features an Eras Dial. It lets you cycle through 10 different era effects (like 1930s, 1960s, or 1990s). These aren't just visual filters; they also affect the audio recording, adding things like the whir of film reels or specific era-appropriate sound textures. With 10 levels of intensity for each, there are 100 possible combinations.

The Verdict
The Mini Evo Cinema feels less like a primary camera and more like a creative accessory. It’s definitely aimed at people who want to capture vibey behind-the-scenes content or wedding photographers looking for a unique way to hand over living snapshots to clients.
Price and Availability
It’s currently slated for a January 30, 2026 release in Japan. There's no official word on global pricing yet, but it's expected to sit slightly above the standard Mini Evo.
