Sony BURANO Gets Improved IR Cut Filter Replacement for Free
Sony has introduced a free IR cut filter replacement for its BURANO 8K cinema camera, designed to enhance color accuracy. This update specifically targets a subtle reddish tint that could affect black fabrics when filmed in direct sunlight. BURANO camera owners can arrange this complimentary service by contacting Sony support before June 30, 2026.

The update process requires sending the camera to Sony, with an estimated turnaround time of about one week. Sony will cover all expenses related to the update, excluding the initial shipping cost of the camera. Please note that loaner cameras will not be provided during the service period. Eligible camera serial numbers run from MPC-2610 1000001 to 1000727, and 1500001 to 1500271, which is basically all Burano cameras that were produced since its initial launch.
