Sony 16-25mm F2.8 G
The newly announced Sony FE 16-25mm F2.8 G is a more compact, lighter, and more affordable alternative to the lenses such as the Sony FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM II. It is great that Sony offers so many alternatives in this range but I find the 25mm tele end very limiting for general use. The 35mm end on the 16-35 lenses comes in handy for occasional portrait shots thus minimizing the need for lens swap, but I can't imagine many scenarios where 25mm would create pleasant-looking portraits.
Here I have prepared a scaled size comparison of the 16-25mm with all the available 16-35mm lenses in FE mount to have a better idea of the differences, followed by a specs comparison (Update: Added another size comparison with Sigma and Tamron lenses):

If f2.8 max aperture is not a must for you, I would consider the excellent Sony FE PZ 16-35mm F4 G lens which is one stop slower but smaller, has 35mm tele reach, and its Power Zoom feature is very useful for videography.
Here is a bonus comparison with the Sigma 16-28mm F2.8 E vs Tamron 17-28mm F2.8 Di III vs Sony FE 16-25mm F2.8 vs Tamron 20-40mm F2.8 VXD lenses:
