Leica D-Lux 8 in hand
The Leica D-Lux 8 has been one of our favorite compact cameras recently, and we even published a detailed real-world review of it here. However, recent price increases (Check Price) have pushed it into a range where it has become difficult to recommend in all honesty. Leica has now released a new firmware update for the D-Lux 8, with the changes and improvements listed below.

Changes and Improvements
- Fully compliant with Article 3.3 of the EU Radio Equipment Directive (2014/53/EU)
- Improved WLAN security: When the camera is reset, a new randomly generated WLAN password is automatically assigned. The password displayed in the WiFi menu is replaced with ****
- Bluetooth: Encrypted Bluetooth communication. As part of the security update, the device must be paired again.
- Bugfixes in the firmware
