Canon LP-E6P is the only battery pack that utilizes full functionality of the EOS R5 II
Canon's new EOS R5 Mark II comes with the new LP-E6P battery pack which provides a higher maximum continuous discharge current of 6 A compared to older packs despite having the same capacity. While the camera remains compatible with the older LP-E6N and LP-E6NH batteries used in the EOS R5 and R6 Mark II, it does so with significant limitations such as no 8K video, no precontinuous shooting, inability to use the Cooling Fan CF-R20EP, and more!
Below is a full list of limitations:
- Network connectivity (Wi-Fi/wired LAN) not available
- Reduces max continuous shooting speed
- Reduces continuous shooting speed and prevents selection of 8K DCI/8K UHD/RAW/SRAW movie recording size, Fine image quality, and 239.76/200.00/119.88/100.00/59.94/50.00 fps frame rates.
- HDMI RAW output
- Still photo shooting during movie recording is not available
- High Frame Rate movies not available
- Precontinuous shooting not available.
- Cooling Fan CF-R20EP cannot be used
- Remaining capacity display in 1% increments is not shown with Battery Pack
- Fewer shots are available
To fully optimize the performance of your EOS R5 Mark II, we recommend using the new LP-E6P battery pack exclusively, and reserving older battery packs for emergency use only.
