Panasonic ZS80 is the best selling compact camera in 2023
Yesterday, I wrote about how people still buy DSLR cameras in 2023. And with no surprise, some people still buys fixed lens compact cameras in 2023 too. I can't blame them either, no matter how much the smartphone cameras advance, they mostly can't offer the convenience of a good compact camera while shooting in my opinion.
But the problem I see here is the manufacturers, unfortunately they mostly stopped developing new compacts with some exceptions like Sony ZV-1 series, OM System Tough series and Leica Q series cameras.

Here is the list of 15 cameras that Camera Decision readers buy the most, and it is dominated by 8 Panasonic cameras, with the Lumix DC-ZS80 on the top of the list, thanks to its crazy 24-720 mm F3.3-6.4 Zoom Lens lens (can you get this with any smartphone?!) and compact size. Sony managed to join the ranks with 4 cameras with their 1" sensors, and Olympus/OM System, Nikon and Canon each managed to have 1 cameras in the list.

My personal favorites in this list are the Sony RX10 IV with ts fast 24-600mm lens and excellent Af system, and the Olympus Tough TG-6 that is actually replaced by the OM System Tough TG-7 but with only very minor improvements. We can't see some other popular cameras such as the Fujifilm X100V and Leica Q3 int he list, probably due to unavailability and higher prices.
Sony RX10 IV with its 24-600mm F2.8-4 Lens is still attractive
