With the launch of the new Sony FE 50-150mm F2 GM, we now have four zoom lenses built for full-frame mirrorless cameras that feature a constant aperture faster than F2.8—unless I’m forgetting one. The other three are the Sigma 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN Art (for E and L mounts), Canon RF 28-70mm F2L USM, and Sony’s own FE 28-70mm F2.0 GM.

F1.8 and F2.0 zoom lenses are definitely tempting, but they don’t come cheap—and they’re not exactly lightweight either. Even compared to F2.8 zooms, you’re looking at a noticeable jump in size, weight, and price. Just check out the MSRPs for these four:
