DJI has launched a new addition to its RS 3 series of stabilizers, called the RS 3 Mini. This compact gimbal weighs just 1.7 pounds, but is capable of carrying a camera and lens combination weighing up to 4.4 pounds. The all-in-one design of the RS 3 Mini is both portable and lightweight, with the device being around 50% lighter than the RS 3 Pro and 40% lighter than the RS 3. This makes it easy to carry and enables users to achieve great results with just one hand.

The RS 3 Mini uses DJI's third-generation stabilization technology, which is the same technology found in the RS 3 Pro, to provide higher performance in a variety of movements, such as when the operator is running or when it is held at a low angle. The device also features a new dual-layered quick-release plate, which allows for vertical video shooting without needing additional accessories, and does not limit the gimbal rotation angle as compared to traditional vertical shooting modes.

The gimbal has a wireless Bluetooth shutter function, which supports most mainstream mirrorless cameras. The connection of the camera and gimbal allows direct control of the video recording and photo capture functions, while an additional feature of controlling lens' optical or digital zoom via the front dial in some Sony camera with supported digital lens. The device is controlled via a 1.4-inch full-color touchscreen, and the M-mode button can be used to switch between the gimbal’s three custom modes, while the front dial can be used for focusing. The battery of the RS 3 Mini offers up to 10 hours of use and can be charged in as little as 2.5 hours. The device connects to the Ronin app to allow timelapse, track recording, and panorama modes.
