Sony released a teaser on AlphaUniverse website about a Special Event to be held on November 7th, 2023. The word on the street is this event is going to be heavy on the Sport photography side, with potential announcements of the Sony Alpha A9 III camera - a successor to the aged Sony Alpha A9 II -, and Sony FE 300mm F2.8 GM OSS fast telephoto prime lens.

300mm F2.8 is a classic sport and large wildlife focal range and aperture combination, and the A9 series generally represents Sony's sport oriented fast cameras with stacked sensors, pro bodies and fast focusing, only trailing in sensor resolution with their 24MP sensors. This new Mark III is rumored to implement a 33MP though, possibly a stacked version of A7 IV 's sensor.
