2024 TIPA Awards Announced

The TIPA (Technical Image Press Association) announced the winners of the 2024 TIPA World Awards, recognizing the best photo-imaging products of the year.

The number of cameras and lenses released annually has significantly decreased compared to earlier years. This reduction gives the impression that almost any new camera or lens is guaranteed an award simply by being released. This reminds me winning the ' Best Effort' Award in a kid's soccer league!

For me, there are 5 products (camera and lens categories) that stand out from the rest of the crowd, but I am probably biased since I mostly shoot birds and wildlife: The Sony Alpha A9 Mark III (first global shutter full-frame sensor camera), the Nikon Z8 (best mirrorless in its price class and Best Camera of 2023), the Sony FE 300mm f2.8 GM OSS (impressively lightweight) and Sigma 500mm f5.6 DG DN OS Sports(excellent value and feature set), and the Nikon Nikkor Z 180-600mm F5.6-6.3 VR (if you can find one!).
