With the recent introduction of the new 7Artisans AF 135mm f1.8 Z , the number of autofocus-capable 135mm F1.8 fast telephoto lenses for Nikon Z-mount cameras has increased to three. This is excellent news for the Z system, as we always appreciate having diverse options across every price point, especially since modern optical standards have reached a level where good to very good is the baseline.
7Artisans AF 135mm f1.8 Z Lens
The current king of the hill is arguably the magnificent Nikkor Z 135mm F1.8 S Plena. While it offers legendary performance, it comes with a premium price tag ($2,199) to match. In the middle of the pack is the Viltrox 135mm f/1.8 LAB, which is actually larger than the Plena but significantly more affordable ($899). Now, 7Artisans enters the ring with the smallest and most budget-friendly ($699) option of the group.
Below you will find a scaled real-life size comparison of these three lenses - both as standalone units and mounted to a camera body- followed by a detailed specifications and features comparison table.
