L-rumors site has released specifications and a leaked picture of the anticipated Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II Art lens for Sony E and Leica L mounts. According to the rumor, this lens, which succeeds the Sigma 24-70 F2.8 DG DN Art, is set to be officially released on May 16, 2024. The new lens is estimated to weigh about 100 grams less than the Mark I, despite having very similar external dimensions. We can also expect to see improved optical quality. In addition, the photo shows that the new lens now has an aperture ring which is a very welcome feature.
The Mark I version of the lens was noted for being susceptible to dust accumulation between the optical elements, an issue that we hope will be addressed in the new Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II Art.

For the L-mount, it will be up against the Panasonic Lumix S Pro 24-70mm F2.8 and Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-70mm F2.8 ASPH, both of which are optically very good but significantly more expensive than the Sigma.
