Leica D-Lux 8 with External Flash
The recently announced Leica D-Lux 8 is the successor to the D-Lux 7 that was released back in November 2018 (Read: D-Lux 8 vs D-Lux 7: What is New?). I have prepared a real-life scaled-size comparison of the D-Lux 8 camera with some of its biggest competitors in the fixed-lens compact camera class, followed by a table comparing their specifications and features.
Fujifilm X100VI is the most popular camera of the year so far!
Competition for the D-Lux 8 comes in every shape, form, and price class. The Leica Q3, the most expensive of the group and features a 61MP full-frame sensor and an excellent 28mm F1.7 lens. The Fujifilm X100VI is easily the most popular camera of the year, making it a rare find, and sports a 40MP APS-C sensor. The Ricoh GR IIIx with a 24MP APS-C sensor and 40mm equivalent lens (and its other variations) is also another hard-to-find camera. The Panasonic LX100 II is essentially the same camera as the D-Lux 8 inside, sharing the same 21MP sensor, and 24-75mm F1.7-2.8 lens, and more. The Sony RX100 VII, the most compact of the group, comes with a 1" sensor and a 24-200mm lens.
