Fujifilm X-E5 seen with the new 23mm F2.8 R WR Pancake Lens
Fujifilm is about to drop its latest rangefinder-style mirrorless camera, the X-E5 , at the upcoming X Summit in Shanghai on June 12th. And while the leaked upgrade to the fantastic 40MP sensor from the X100VI , X-T5 , and X-T50 is a huge plus, I have to be honest; the rest of the rumored spec sheet is a bit of a letdown. I'm talking about the low-resolution viewfinder and rear LCD, which feel out of place in 2025.

But the real kicker? A rumored price tag of $1,699 . While I'm a fan of what Fujifilm has been doing, and I understand the brand's immense popularity, that price for an APS-C body with these potential drawbacks strikes me as, frankly, ridiculous. For comparison, the X-T5 is selling for $1,699, the X100VI (with its built in 35mm ff equivalent lens) for $1,599, and the full-frame Nikon Z5 II for $1,696 !
