Sirui AURORA 35mm F1.4 FF AF LENS
Boy, I always seem to run into trouble when adding new Chinese lenses to our database; there’s always something missing at launch. Sometimes it’s the dimensions or weight, sometimes the optical formula, and more often than not it’s the magnification ratio (for some reason, certain Chinese lens makers just don’t like sharing that info). But this time, with the new Sirui Aurora 35mm F1.4 AF, the entire spec sheet is missing! And that’s despite the lens already being up for preorder at B&H Photo. Oh, and there’s no official product page on Sirui’s own website either, what a surprise!
The new 35mm F1.4 AF is the second lens in Sirui’s Aurora series, with the first being the Aurora 85mm F1.4 AF. That lens received rave reviews, and some even claimed it could rival top-tier options like the Sony FE 85mm F1.4 GM II. We are expecting similar results from the 35mm F1.4 AF, but please Sirui, just release the full specs.
Sirui AURORA 35mm F1.4 impresses with the variety of external controls on the lens body
The Aurora 35mm F1.4 is generous when it comes to external controls, featuring an aperture ring, function button, iris lock button, AF/MF switch, and a click/de-click button, along with the expected focus ring.
The Sirui Aurora 35mm F1.4 AF will be available in Sony E, Nikon Z, Fujifilm X, and Leica L mounts, and is currently available for preorder for $549. For comparison, the Sony FE 35mm F1.4 GM sells for $1,398, which makes the Sirui a very tempting option if its performance is in the same league.
