Kase 85mm F1.4 AF Lens for Sony E and Nikon Z mount cameras
Somehow I missed the Kase 85mm F1.4 AF (MSRP $738) when it launched a few months ago, but better late than never. It is now added to our review and comparison database.
Kase is best known for its camera filters, and this 85mm F1.4 AF is a confident first step into the lens world. While many Chinese brands started with fully manual glass before tackling autofocus, Kase jumped straight to AF. I am curious if they partnered or licensed tech to get there, because the lens comes with thoughtful touches like function buttons, an aperture ring with a de-click switch, an AF/MF switch, Magnetic Lens Cap & Filter Support, and a USB-C port for firmware updates. Looks like a solid debut.

The lens comes in Sony E, Nikon Z and Fujifilm X mounts. On E-mount it goes up against the Sony FE 85mm F1.4 GM II. On Z-mount it competes with the Nikon Z 85mm F1.8 S and the Nikon Nikkor Z 85mm F1.2 S since Nikon does not offer an 85mm F1.4 for Z. For the APS-C Fujifilm X mount, the closest competitor would be the Fujifilm XF 56mm F1.2 R WR. At a $738 MSRP. it is not exactly cheap, but it still undercuts the first-party options by a good margin.
