This is the first time the E-mount version of the Sigma 500mm f5.6 DG DN OS Sports is in stock in the USA both at B&H Photo and Amazon ! The Sigma 500mm F5.6 is a compact and lightweight alternative to the popular Sony FE 200-600 F5.6-6.3 G OSS zoom lens, as well as the much more expensive FE 600mm F4 GM OSS , FE 300mm f2.8 GM OSS , and the FE 400mm F2.8 GM OSS prime lenses.
Priced at $2999 , the Sigma is $1000 more expensive than the Sony 200-600mm however it is half of the Sony FE 300mm F2.8's $6000 price, the cheapest of the prime Sony lenses mentioned here.

As clearly seen on the scaled size comparison, the 500mm F5.6 is shorter and lighter than all other lenses which is a big plus. However, the biggest drawback of the Sigma in my opinion is that the E-mount version is not compatible with any Teleconverters whereas all other Sony lenses mentioned here are.
