The new Samyang AF 35mm F1.4 P FE is significantly compact and lightweight compared to the company's previous 35mm F1.4 lens for the E-mount, the Samyang AF 35mm f1.4 FE II, which is a very welcome feature (as long as the image quality doesn't get a hit!) but in my opinion the biggest competition will still be the expensive but optically excellent (except the extreme focus breathing) Sony FE 35mm F1.4 GM lens. Let's compare these three lens sizes below, followed by a specs and feature comparison table.

Samyang AF 35mm f1.4 FE II vs Samyang 35mm F1.4 P FE vs Sony FE 35mm F1.4 GM Lenses Size
As seen in the picture, the new Samyang is lighter than both lenses, but the Sony FE 35mm F1.4 GM is still slightly smaller, which makes me wonder how Samyang built the new 35mm F1.4 P so light, I hope this doesn't come with a sacrifice in image quality!
A downside of the new 35mm F1.4 P, which may also be contributing to its low weight, is the lack of physical controls on the lens; there is no AF/MF Switch, Focus Hold button, Aperture Ring, etc. It is a minimalistic design in this regard with only a focus ring.
