Sigma just announced the 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS, its new 10x Super Telephoto Zoom lens for Sony E and Leica L mounts. For the E mount users, this new lens can become a good alternative to the Sony FE 200-600 F5.6-6.3 G OSS, arguably the most popular wildlife and bird photography lens for the mount.
Here we have made a scaled size comparison of these two lenses to give an idea about how they compare in real life use. Remember that the Sony is an internal zoom lens whereas the Sigma is an Extending design where the lenght increases when you zoom in.
Sony FE 200-600 is the longer of the two lenses at 318mm. The Sigma 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS with a length of 279mm is 39mm shorter. On the other hand, the Sigma 60-600mm has a larger diameter of 119mm compared to Sony FE 200-600's 112mm diameter.
On the other hand, Sony FE 200-600 F5.6-6.3 G OSS weighs 2115g, 15% (380g) lighter than the Sigma 60-600mm F4.5-6.3 DG DN OS's weight of 2495g.
