Sony's FE 300mm f2.8 GM OSS is more popular than most people expect, even with its $6,799 price tag. Sony really nailed something special here. It is probably the sharpest E mount lens available, and what makes it even more impressive is how well it holds up against the FE 400mm F2.8 GM OSS and FE 600mm F4 GM OSS lenses when used with 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters respectively, as we have shown in our comparison with the 600mm f4 GM .

My personal favorites are the 45mm and 70mm hoods, the two shortest ones, and both are shorter than Sony's stock 96mm hood. Besides being significantly smaller than the Sony hood, they are also much more affordable. They do not require any extra mounting ring either. Each hood attaches directly to the bayonet mount on the Sony FE 300mm, so you can easily swap between the Sony hood and our CamDec hoods.
