Canon EOS R1
Today, a well-know online retailer inadvertently released more detailed specifications for the Canon EOS R1 on their product page, revealing that the camera features a 30MP full-frame stacked sensor. If accurate, this specification is very disappointing to me.
I had no plans to purchase the R1 anyway as I never liked the cameras with built-in vertical grips, so I am more interested in the forthcoming R5 II. However, I expected the R1 to have at least a 45MP resolution sensor to remain competitive with other flagship models such as the Nikon Z9 , the Sony A1 , and the A9 Mark III (For more insights, see the article: "Canon EOS R1 vs R3: A Size Comparison and 11 Things to be Improved ").
It appears that Canon prioritized speed over resolution with the R1, a strategy that may have been successful for them previously. However, I believe many professionals might overlook the R1, limiting its appeal primarily to sports photography. Cameras like the Sony A1 and Nikon Z9 have demonstrated that it's possible to deliver top-tier speed alongside significantly higher-resolution sensors after all.
