Airpeak S1 Drone Carrying a Sony A7S III Camera
Sony has announced that it will discontinue its Airpeak S1 drone by March 2025 due to shifts in the business environment. The Airpeak S1, launched at CES 2021 and marketed as the smallest drone capable of carrying a full-size mirrorless interchangeable-lens Alpha camera, struggled to compete against competition. The high price tag of $8,999.99 for the drone, which didn't include essential components like a gimbal or camera, limited its appeal.
Sony: ‘Due to recent changes in the business environment, Airpeak S1 and related products will be discontinued at the end of March 2025, except for some accessories. Please see below for a list of the products to be discontinued and details of the planned termination of support, including repair services, after the end of sales .’
