Panasonic Japan announced that the Panasonic Lumix S9 full-frame mirrorless L-mount camera received more pre-orders than anticipated. This is a common marketing strategy used by many manufacturers shortly after a product's launch, and there is no way for us to know if this is accurate or not. After all, we never hear the opposite where they publicly admit to receiving fewer orders than expected. Anyway, we are giving Panasonic the benefit of the doubt and believe them.
The originally planned delivery date of the $1,499 Lumix S9 in the US was June 20th at major online retailers, but now it looks like the ones who haven't pre-ordered yet will have to wait a little longer than that. If you are interested in this camera, you can pre-order at B&H Photo and Amazon. In addition, if you order before June 29th, the Panasonic S 26mm F8 lens ($199 value) will be included for free with the S9.
