Image quality and lens basics
The lens is roughly 14 mm equivalent at f/2.85 with a 156° ultra-wide field of view. That makes it excellent for chest-mounted or helmet shots where you want to pull the viewer into the scene. Video tops out at 4K/60 with options for 4:3 capture and 1080/240 slow motion. For stills you can push it to 50 MP, handy for quick thumbnails or cover images.

Smarter app integration
The Insta360 app now does more with AI, automatically cutting together clips with transitions and effects. There is also a data overlay feature for runners and cyclists that can pull metrics like speed and heart rate right into your video.

Should you upgrade
You probably should if you want 4K/60, shoot in low light, or dislike being stuck with fixed storage. The GO Ultra finally addresses all three of those frustrations. If you mostly record short casual clips at 1080p, you can keep using the older GO without missing too much.
