The new Fujifilm X half compact camera
The new Fujifilm X half is a compact camera with a vertically placed 1-inch type sensor and a 32mm full-frame equivalent F2.8 fixed lens. And honestly, it looks fantastic, credit where it’s due. But that’s pretty much where the excitement ends for me. Fujifilm has been killing it lately in the retro-style compact camera game, just look at the X100VI , which is still backordered a year after launch. The X Half keeps that vintage vibe going strong on the outside, clearly aiming to deliver a film camera-like experience. It is also compact and lightweight. But once you look under the hood… well, it’s a different story.

It’s got a small sensor, no RAW shooting mode, a not-so-fast lens with no filter threads, no image stabilization, a purely optical viewfinder, plastic body, no hotshoe (just a cold one) and a tiny screen (okay, two tiny screens, but still). The video specs? Let’s just say "not even real Full HD" and "stuck at 24p" should tell you everything you need to know. Basically, it feels like a throwback in all the wrong ways.

And then there’s the price: $849 . Yep. For that money, you'd expect something more modern under the hood. If it were $450–500, I’d say sure, give it a shot for the aesthetic. But at $849, unless you’re buying it purely for the looks - or because TikTok told you to - this one's a hard pass. I would just stick with my smartphone instead.
