Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs. In this section, we are going to illustrate the Fujifilm X-Pro2 and Fujifilm X-Pro1 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Fujifilm X-Pro2 has external dimensions of 141 x 83 x 56 mm (5.55 x 3.27 x 2.2″) and weighs 495 g (1.09 lb / 17.46 oz) (including batteries). Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day. Fujifilm X-Pro1 is 45g lighter than the Fujifilm X-Pro2 but we don't think this will make a significant difference.

Also keep in mind that body weight is not the only deciding factor when comparing two interchangeable camera bodies, you also have to take into account the lenses that you will be using with these bodies. Since both Fujifilm X-Pro2 and Fujifilm X-Pro1 have the same Fujifilm X lens mount and APS-C sized sensors, lenses will not be a differentiator on total size of the system.

Weather Sealing

With its weather-sealed body, we believe that the X-Pro2 has a big advantage over the X-Pro1 which doesn't provide any kind of environmental sealing.

LCD Screen Size and Features

Fujifilm X-Pro2 and Fujifilm X-Pro1's LCD screens have the same diagonal size of 3.00 inches.

Unfortunately, both cameras has fixed screens so they don't tilt or flip in directions.

Fujifilm X-Pro2 vs Fujifilm X-Pro1: Sensor Comparison

Fujifilm X-Pro2 has a 24.0MP APS-C (23.6 x 15.6 mm ) sized CMOS X-TRANS III sensor and features EXR Processor III processor. On the other hand, Fujifilm X-Pro1 has a 16.0MP APS-C (23.6 x 15.6 mm ) sized CMOS X-TRANS I sensor and features EXR Pro processor.

Fujifilm X-Pro2's sensor provides 8MP more than Fujifilm X-Pro1's sensor, which gives a significant advantage in real life. You can print your images larger or crop more freely. On the other hand, please keep in mind that Max sensor resolution is not the only determinant of resolving power. Factors such as the optical elements, low pass filter, pixel size and sensor technology also affects the final resolution of the captured image.

Another similarity between these two cameras is that both Fujifilm X-Pro1 and Fujifilm X-Pro2 sensors lack anti-alias (Low-Pass) filters. Removing anti-alias filter increases the sharpness and level of detail but at the same time, it increases the chance of moiré occurring in certain scenes.

Below you can see the X-Pro2 and X-Pro1 sensor size comparison.

Sensor Size and Resolution Comparison image of Fujifilm X-Pro2 and Fujifilm X-Pro1 Cameras

Fujifilm X-Pro2 and Fujifilm X-Pro1 have the same sensor sizes so they will provide same level of control over the depth of field when used with same focal length and aperture. On the other hand, since Fujifilm X-Pro1 has 50% larger pixel area (23.04µm2 vs 15.34µm2) compared to Fujifilm X-Pro2, it has larger pixel area to collect light hence potential to have less noise in low light / High ISO images.

Fujifilm X-Pro2 vs Fujifilm X-Pro1 Comparison of Available Lenses
Which camera has more lenses?

The number of available lenses is a big deciding factor when choosing your interchangeable lens camera. Fujifilm X-Pro2 and Fujifilm X-Pro1 have the same Fujifilm X lens mount and currently there are 83 native lenses available for these cameras.

Another important factor is the availability of image stabilization. None of these bodies have sensor based image stabilization so you have to buy lenses with Optical stabilization feature. Currently there are 18 lenses with Image stabilization for Fujifilm X mount.
