In a recent post, we have seen the drastic size difference between Sony A1 and Nikon Z9. Unlike what Sony has done with their flagship mirrorless Alpha A1, Canon chose a Pro-body with built-in grips for its flagship EOS R3, similar to Nikon Z9.
Below you can see the front view size comparison of Nikon Z9 and Canon R3. Nikon Z9 has external dimensions of 149 x 150 x 91 mm (5.87 x 5.91 x 3.58″) and weighs 1340 g (2.95 lb / 47.27 oz) (including batteries). Canon R3 has external dimensions of 150 x 143 x 87 mm (5.91 x 5.63 x 3.43″) and weighs 1015 g (2.24 lb / 35.80 oz) (including batteries).

Canon R3 is 7mm shorter and 4mm thinner than Nikon Z9 but it is also 1mm wider. What surprises us is that despite the similar dimensions, Z9 is a whopping 325g heavier than R3.

Both cameras have similar specs and performance, and have similar external dimensions but the main difference is their weights.
