Nikon seems to be working hard to release new cameras and lenses for its Z mount cameras in order to get more traction but they are still behind the main competition, mainly Sony E and Canon RF mounts. The recent introduction of the impressive Nikon Z9 flagship camera and the Nikkor Z 400mm f2.8 TC VR S lenses are really exciting news but are they enough to attract more people to the Z mount, time will tell.

Meanwhile,  we have an updated Nikon Nikkor Z Lens Roadmap Published in January 2022. There are 7 lenses on this roadmap that haven't been announced yet, and they are as follows:

  • 24mm DX
  • 26mm
  • 12-28mm DX
  • 85mm S
  • 200-600mm (non-S )
  • 400mm S (likely PF due to compact size)
  • 600mm S  f/4
