Resolution, frame rates, and bitrate
- 8K30, 5.6K60, or 4K100 in 360 mode
- Standard firmware: 60 Mbps by default, up to 120 Mbps
- GoPro Labs (beta) unlocks bitrates up to 300 Mbps and deeper control
Higher pixel count is mainly for editing flexibility. You will not watch 8K 360 all at once, but you can punch in more during reframing without turning your image to mush.

Sensors and low light
Max2 uses dual Type 1/2.3 sensors. GoPro is open that these are smaller than DJI’s recent 360 camera sensors, so low-light performance is not the focus. The trade was size and a replaceable-lens design that stays compact.
Shoot modes for everyone
You get pro controls, but also simple presets. Record in POV or Selfie, and the Quik app will default the view for you on import. All the 360 data is there if you want to change framing later.
