Fujifilm X-T4 Sensor and Photography Features

Fujifilm X-T4 has a 26.0MP APS-C (23.5 x 15.6 mm ) sized X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor . You can shoot at maximum resolution of 6240 x 4160 pixels with aspect ratios of 1:1, 3:2 and 16:9. X-T4 has a native ISO range of 160 - 12800 which can be boosted to 80 - 51200 and it can save files in RAW format which gives you a wider room for post processing.

Fujifilm X-T4 is not the highest resolution APS-C camera. Fujifilm X-T5 with its 40.2MP sensor is leading in this class. Check the comparison of Fujifilm X-T4 vs Fujifilm X-T5 or take a look at Highest resolution Mirrorless cameras list.

    Anti-Aliasing Filter

Another important feature about Fujifilm X-T4's sensor is the lack of anti-alias (Low-pass) filter. Removing anti-aliasing filter increases the sharpness and level of detail but on the other side it also increases the chance of moiré occurring in certain scenes.

Let's look at how the size of the Fujifilm X-T4's APS-C sensor compares with other standard sensor sizes.

    Fujifilm X-T4 Sensor Size Comparison

    Fujifilm X-T4 LCD and Viewfinder

Fujifilm X-T4 has a Fully Articulated 3.00-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1,620k dots. Articulated screens are more video oriented compared to only tilting or fixed screens. On the other hand, photography oriented users generally prefer tilting screens. Both the screen size and the screen resolution is up to the standards of this class.

LCD is Touch screen type, so you can change the settings and set the focus point with your fingertips.

Fujifilm X-T4 back view and LCD

For those of you who loves shooting selfies, self or group photos, Fujifilm X-T4 will make your life easier with its Selfie friendly screen. Another group of users who will take advantage of X-T4's LCD screen are Vloggers and any video creators who are working in a single-person setup.

Selfie Friendly Fully articulated Screen of Fujifilm X-T4

X-T4 has a built-in Electronic viewfinder, making it easier to shoot in direct sunlight and in other situations where it might be difficult to view the LCD monitor. The viewfinder has a resolution of 3,690kdots and coverage of 100%. The Viewfinder Eye Point distance is 23mm . 100% coverage ensures that what you see in the viewfinder while shooting matches exactly what you will get later in your image, helping accurate framing your shots and minimizes the need for cropping images later. The magnification ratio of the viewfinder is 0.75x (35mm equivalent).

Fujifilm X-T4 Connectivity, Storage and Battery

Fujifilm X-T4 features built-in wireless (Wi-Fi) connectivity ( 802.11b/g/n + Bluetooth 4.2) which lets you transfer your photos directly to compatible devices without any physical connection. Fujifilm X-T4's Bluetooth connectivity feature comes handy for connecting other devices that supports it. One other feature that we like is the ability to use our smartphone as a remote to control our X-T4. You can change camera settings, release shutter, view LCD screen and tranfer files using remote control app.

You can connect X-T4 to compatible devices via its HDMI port or USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5 GBit/sec) port.

    Fujifilm X-T4 Battery

Fujifilm X-T4 is powered by NP-W235 battery which provides a battery life of 500 shots according to CIPA standards. Considering that the average battery life of Mirrorless type cameras is 389 shots, Fujifilm X-T4 has a good battery life for its class.

    Fujifilm X-T4 Video Features

With Fujifilm X-T4, you can record your videos at a highest resolution of 4096 x 2160 at 60p,50p,30p,25p,24p,23.98p fps with bit rates up to 400 mbps and save in MPEG-4, H.264 and H.265 formats. Fujifilm X-T4's 4K is the common standard resolution in consumer video world.

    Video Resolutions Comparison Chart

One important factor that you need to take into consideration while shooting video at max resolution of 4K with Fujifilm X-T4 is that there is a crop factor of 1.18x ( in addition to the APS-C crop ratio of 1.5x ) which can make it difficult to achieve wide-angle clips.

    High-Speed Video

X-T4 features a high speed mode where it captures videos at 240fps which helps to create slow motion videos. If you shoot a video at a frame rate of 240fps and play it back at 24fps, the video will be 10x slower and longer than normal.

    Microphones, Speaker and Headphone Connections

Fujifilm X-T4 has a built-in Stereo microphone and a Mono speaker. Fujifilm X-T4 also has a port for an external microphone and a headphone port for connecting external headphones which make Fujifilm X-T4 a very suitable camera high quality videography.

If you are getting into videography and want to know what are the must-have video accessories for your camera, read our article:

    Fujifilm X-T4 Other Features

    Max Shutter speed

Fujifilm X-T4 can shoot continuously at max speed of 15.0 fps and has max shutter speed of 1/8000 sec. X-T4 also has an electronic shutter which can shoot silently at max speed of 1/32000s. One thing to keep in mind is that electronic shutter may cause rolling shutter / jello effects, and also banding issues under artificial light on your images.

    Flash

Unfortunately X-T4 doesn't have a built-in flash but it has a flash shoe for mounting external flashes.

    Focusing

Fujifilm X-T4 features both Contrast Detection and Phase Detection autofocus (AF) systems which ensures speed and accuracy of focusing in most situations. The AF system has 425 points to choose from.

Fujifilm X-T4 also features Face detection AF where it intelligently detects the faces in the frame and locks the focus automatically. In addition to the face detect AF, X-T4 has a more sophisticated feature called Eye Tracking AF which detects and locks focus to the selected eye of the person in the frame accurately and tracks as the subject moves. Eye tracking AF of Fujifilm X-T4 is a perfect feature for shooting portraits and is especially useful when fast lenses are used and the depth of field is very narrow.
