Sigma DP1s Sensor and Photography Features

Sigma DP1s has a 5.0MP APS-C (20.7 x 13.8 mm ) sized CMOS (Foveon X3) sensor . You can shoot at maximum resolution of 2640 x 1760 pixels with aspect ratios of and 3:2. DP1s has a native ISO range of 100 - 800 and it can save files in RAW format which gives you a wider room for post processing.

Sigma DP1s is not the highest resolution APS-C camera. Fujifilm X-T5 with its 40.2MP sensor is leading in this class. Check the comparison of Sigma DP1s vs Fujifilm X-T5 or take a look at Highest resolution Compact cameras list.

Let's look at how the size of the Sigma DP1s's APS-C sensor compares with other standard sensor sizes.

    Sigma DP1s Sensor Size Comparison
Comparison image of Sigma DP1s Sensor Size with other standard sensors

    Sigma DP1s LCD

Sigma DP1s has a Fixed Type 2.50-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 230k dots. At only 2.50", the screen is on the smaller side and 230kdot resolution is lower than most of the recent models in this class.

Sigma DP1s back view and LCD

Unfortunately Sigma DP1s doesn't have a Selfie friendly screen. If this feature is important for your shooting style, check here the list of Best Compact Cameras with Selfie Friendly LCD screen.

DP1s doesn't have a viewfinder and no option for external viewfinder. Lack of a viewfinder can be problematic especially under strong light where visibility of LCD screens goes down dramatically. If you need a Compact camera with a built-in viewfinder in a similar price range, consider Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS100 (Lumix DMC-TZ100) (Compare) or Nikon Coolpix P7800 (Compare).
Alternatively, check here the list of all Compact cameras with viewfinder..

Sigma DP1s Connectivity, Storage and Battery
