Canon T6i vs Canon 4000D: Physical Specs and Body Features Comparison

Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs. In this section, we are going to illustrate the Canon T6i and Canon 4000D side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Canon T6i has external dimensions of 132 x 101 x 78 mm (5.2 x 3.98 x 3.07″) and weighs 555 g (1.22 lb / 19.58 oz) (including batteries). Canon 4000D has external dimensions of 129 x 102 x 77 mm (5.08 x 4.02 x 3.03″) and weighs 436 g (0.96 lb / 15.38 oz) (including batteries).

Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Canon T6i and the Canon 4000D. Canon 4000D is 3mm narrower and 1mm thinner than Canon T6i but it is also 1mm taller.

Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day. Canon 4000D is significantly lighter (119g ) than the Canon T6i which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.

Also keep in mind that body weight is not the only deciding factor when comparing two interchangeable camera bodies, you also have to take into account the lenses that you will be using with these bodies. Since both Canon T6i and Canon 4000D have the same Canon EF/EF-S lens mount and APS-C sized sensors, lenses will not be a differentiator on total size of the system.

Weather Sealing

Unfortunately neither the Canon EOS Rebel T6i (EOS 750D / Kiss X8i) nor Canon EOS 4000D provides any type of weather sealing in their bodies, so you have to give extra care especially when you are shooting outdoors. If weather sealing is a must-have feature for you, check these sections:
Top DSLR Cameras with Weather Sealing

LCD Screen Size and Features

Canon T6i's 3.00" LCD screen is slightly larger than Canon 4000D's 2.7 screen.

Moreover, Canon T6i sports a Fully Articulated screen which you can change the angle and position of the screen almost freely, making it possible to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels, and especially very useful for shooting selfies and video. On the other hand, Canon 4000D has a fixed type screen which provides almost no flexibility in shooting positions compared to T6i.

Canon T6i vs Canon 4000D: Sensor Comparison

Canon T6i has a 24.0MP APS-C (22.3 x 14.9 mm ) sized CMOS sensor and features DIGIC 6 processor. On the other hand, Canon 4000D has a 18.0MP APS-C (22.3 x 14.9 mm ) sized CMOS sensor and features Digic 4+ processor.

Canon T6i's sensor provides 6MP more than Canon 4000D's sensor, which gives a significant advantage in real life. You can print your images larger or crop more freely. On the other hand, please keep in mind that Max sensor resolution is not the only determinant of resolving power. Factors such as the optical elements, low pass filter, pixel size and sensor technology also affects the final resolution of the captured image.

Below you can see the T6i and 4000D sensor size comparison.

Canon T6i vs Canon 4000D Sensor Size Comparison
Sensor Size and Resolution Comparison image of Canon T6i and Canon 4000D Cameras

Canon T6i and Canon 4000D have the same sensor sizes so they will provide same level of control over the depth of field when used with same focal length and aperture. On the other hand, since Canon 4000D has 33% larger pixel area (18.54µm2 vs 13.84µm2) compared to Canon T6i, it has larger pixel area to collect light hence potential to have less noise in low light / High ISO images.

DxOMark Sensor Scores

Both Canon T6i and Canon 4000D sensors have been tested by DxoMark. DxoMark scores camera sensors for color depth (DXO Portrait), dynamic range (DXO Landscape) and low-light sensitivity (DXO Sports), and also gives them an overall score. Of the two cameras that we are comparing, T6i has scored 71, 8 points higher than 4000D.

Model Overall Color Depth Dynamic Range Low-light ISO
