    Weather Sealing

Fujifilm X100S doesn't have any environmental sealings on its body so you got to be extra careful to protect it against water and dust. If you shoot under these conditions very often, consider checking Top Compact Cameras with Weather Sealing page.

    Fujifilm X100S Lens

Fujifilm X100S features a 35 mm F2.0 Prime lens. This prime lens makes X100S a specialized camera. You compromise the flexibility of a zoom in order to enjoy the high image quality and unique rendering of this fast lens.

Fujifilm X100S Sensor and Photography Features

Fujifilm X100S has a 16.0MP APS-C (23.6 x 15.8 mm ) sized CMOS X-TRANS II sensor and features EXR II processor. You can shoot at maximum resolution of 4896 x 3264 pixels with aspect ratios of 1:1, 3:2 and 16:9. X100S has a native ISO range of 100 - 12800 which can be boosted to 25600 and it can save files in RAW format which gives you a wider room for post processing.

Fujifilm X100S is not the highest resolution APS-C camera. Fujifilm X-T5 with its 40.2MP sensor is leading in this class. Check the comparison of Fujifilm X100S vs Fujifilm X-T5 or take a look at Highest resolution Compact cameras list.

    Anti-Aliasing Filter

Another important feature about Fujifilm X100S's sensor is the lack of anti-alias (Low-pass) filter. Removing anti-aliasing filter increases the sharpness and level of detail but on the other side it also increases the chance of moiré occurring in certain scenes.

Let's look at how the size of the Fujifilm X100S's APS-C sensor compares with other standard sensor sizes.

    Fujifilm X100S Sensor Size Comparison
Comparison image of Fujifilm X100S Sensor Size with other standard sensors

    Fujifilm X100S LCD and Viewfinder

Fujifilm X100S has a Fixed Type 2.80-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 460k dots. At only 2.80", the screen is on the smaller side and 460kdot resolution is lower than most of the recent models in this class.

Fujifilm X100S back view and LCD

Unfortunately Fujifilm X100S doesn't have a Selfie friendly screen. If this feature is important for your shooting style, check here the list of Best Compact Cameras with Selfie Friendly LCD screen.

X100S has a built-in Electronic and Optical (tunnel) viewfinder, making it easier to shoot in direct sunlight and in other situations where it might be difficult to view the LCD monitor. The viewfinder has a resolution of 2,350kdots and coverage of 90%. 90% coverage means that what you see in your viewfinder while shooting will slightly be different from the actual image. The magnification ratio of the viewfinder is 0.5x (35mm equivalent).

Fujifilm X100S Connectivity, Storage and Battery

You can connect X100S to compatible devices via its HDMI port or USB 2.0 (480 Mbit/sec) port.

    Fujifilm X100S Battery

Fujifilm X100S is powered by NP-95 battery which provides a battery life of 330 shots according to CIPA standards. Considering that the average battery life of Large Sensor Compact type cameras is 304 shots, its battery life is about average in its class but it would still be wise to invest in some spare batteries for long photo trips.
