Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Sigma fp and Canon M5 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Sigma fp has external dimensions of 113 x 70 x 45 mm (4.45 x 2.76 x 1.77″) and weighs 422 g (0.93 lb / 14.89 oz) (including batteries). Canon M5 has external dimensions of 116 x 89 x 61 mm (4.57 x 3.5 x 2.4″) and weighs 427 g (0.94 lb / 15.06 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Sigma fp and the Canon M5. Sigma fp is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 3mm narrower, 19mm shorter and 16mm thinner than Canon M5.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Sigma fp and Canon M5.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Sigma fp and Canon M5.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Sigma fp is 5g lighter than the Canon M5 but we don't think this will make a significant difference.
Also keep in mind that body weight is not the only deciding factor when comparing two interchangeable camera bodies, you also have to take into account the lenses that you will be using with these bodies. Since Sigma fp has a Full frame sensor and Canon M5 has a smaller APS-C sensor, Canon M5's lenses for a similar focal length and aperture will generally be lighter and smaller than the Sigma fp lenses.
Weather Sealing
With its weather-sealed body, we believe that the fp has a big advantage over the M5 which doesn't provide any kind of environmental sealing.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Sigma fp and Canon M5's LCD screens have the same diagonal size of 3.20 inches.
On the other hand, Canon M5 features a
Tilting screen where you can change the angle of the screen to make it easier to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels whereas the Sigma fp has a fixed type screen which provides less flexibility in shooting positions compared to M5.
