Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Pentax Q10 and Olympus 8000 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Pentax Q10 has external dimensions of 102 x 58 x 34 mm (4.02 x 2.28 x 1.34″) and weighs 200 g (0.44 lb / 7.05 oz) (including batteries). Olympus 8000 has external dimensions of 95 x 62 x 22 mm (3.74 x 2.44 x 0.87″) and weighs 182 g (0.40 lb / 6.42 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Pentax Q10 and the Olympus 8000. Olympus 8000 is 7mm narrower and 12mm thinner than Pentax Q10 but it is also 4mm taller. Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Olympus 8000 is 18g lighter than the Pentax Q10 but we don't think this will make a significant difference.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on Q10, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
Thanks to the weather-sealed body of the 8000, you can use this camera with more confidence under conditions where there is risk of exposure to water and dust compared to the Q10.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Pentax Q10's 3.00" LCD screen is slightly larger than Olympus 8000's 2.7 screen.
Unfortunately, both cameras has fixed screens so they don't tilt or flip in directions.
