Both Nikon L32 and Canon G5 X MII have 20.0 MP resolution sensors but Nikon L32's sensor is 1/2.3 (6.17 x 4.55 mm ) and Canon G5 X MII's sensor is 1″ (13.2 x 8.8 mm ).
Since Canon G5 X MII's has a larger sensor area with the same resolution, this means that it also has a larger pixel area hence better light collecting capacity for a given aperture compared to Nikon L32.

One thing to watch when comparing these two: they have different sensor sizes

so compare them at the same framing rather than the same focal length.
