Fujifilm X-T1 has a
16.0MP APS-C (23.6 x 15.6 mm ) sized CMOS X-TRANS II sensor and features EXR Processor II processor. On the other hand, Canon R7 has a
33.0MP APS-C (22.2 x 14.8 mm ) sized CMOS sensor and features Digic X processor.
Canon R7's sensor provides 17MP more than Fujifilm X-T1's sensor, which gives a significant advantage in real life. You can print your images larger or crop more freely.
On the other hand, please keep in mind that Max sensor resolution is not the only determinant of resolving power. Factors such as the optical elements, low pass filter, pixel size and sensor technology also affects the final resolution of the captured image.
Below you can see the X-T1 and R7 sensor size comparison.
Sensor Size and Resolution Comparison image of Fujifilm X-T1 and Canon R7 Cameras
As seen above, Fujifilm X-T1 has a 1.1x Larger sensor area than Canon R7. Larger sensors give photographer more control on the depth of field and blurry background compared to smaller sensor when shot in same focal length and aperture.
Sensor size sets the circle of confusion, so it drives how much depth of field each
of these bodies gives you at a given aperture. You can calculate it exactly for the
Fujifilm X-T1
or the
Canon R7 ,
including hyperfocal distance.
