Both Canon 70D and Panasonic ZS70 have 20.0 MP resolution sensors but Canon 70D's sensor is APS-C (22.5 x 15 mm ) and Panasonic ZS70's sensor is 1/2.3-inch (6.17 x 4.55 mm ).

As seen above, Canon 70D has a 12.0x Larger sensor area than Panasonic ZS70. Larger sensors give photographer more control on the depth of field and blurry background compared to smaller sensor when shot in same focal length and aperture.

One thing to watch when comparing these two: they have different sensor sizes

so compare them at the same framing rather than the same focal length.
