Both Canon 700D and Nikon 1 J4 have 18.0 MP resolution sensors but Canon 700D's sensor is APS-C (22.3 x 14.9 mm ) and Nikon 1 J4's sensor is 1' (13.2 x 8.8 mm ).

so compare them at the same framing rather than the same focal length.
