Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Samsung NX30 and Panasonic ZS30 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Samsung NX30 has external dimensions of 127 x 96 x 58 mm (5 x 3.78 x 2.28″) and weighs 375 g (0.83 lb / 13.23 oz) (including batteries). Panasonic ZS30 has external dimensions of 105 x 59 x 28 mm (4.13 x 2.32 x 1.1″) and weighs 198 g (0.44 lb / 6.98 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Samsung NX30 and the Panasonic ZS30. Panasonic ZS30 is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 22mm narrower, 37mm shorter and 30mm thinner than Samsung NX30. As you can tell, actually this is not a fair size comparison since Panasonic ZS30 has a built-in lens but Samsung NX30 doesn't. Once you put a lens on NX30, its thickness will increase significantly.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Samsung NX30 and Panasonic ZS30.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Samsung NX30 and Panasonic ZS30.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Panasonic ZS30 is significantly lighter (177g ) than the Samsung NX30 which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.
Again, this comparison may not be very useful in real life as we are comparing the weight of a camera with a built-in lens to the body-only weight of an interchangeable lens camera. Once you put a lens on NX30, the total kit will weigh much higher.
Weather Sealing
Unfortunately neither the Samsung NX30 nor Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS30 (Lumix DMC-TZ40) provides any type of weather sealing in their bodies, so you have to give extra care especially when you are shooting outdoors. LCD Screen Size and Features
Samsung NX30 and Panasonic ZS30's LCD screens have the same diagonal size of 3.00 inches.
On the other hand, Samsung NX30 sports a
Fully Articulated screen which you can change the angle and position of the screen almost freely, making it possible to shoot from waist or over-the-head levels, and especially very useful for shooting selfies and video. Panasonic ZS30's LCD screen is a fixed type which provides almost no flexibility in shooting positions compared to NX30.
