Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs.
In this section, we are going to illustrate the Pentax KP and Nikon D5500 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Pentax KP has external dimensions of 132 x 101 x 76 mm (5.2 x 3.98 x 2.99″) and weighs 703 g (1.55 lb / 24.80 oz) (including batteries). Nikon D5500 has external dimensions of 124 x 97 x 70 mm (4.88 x 3.82 x 2.76″) and weighs 420 g (0.93 lb / 14.82 oz) (including batteries).
Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Pentax KP and the Nikon D5500. Nikon D5500 is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 8mm narrower, 4mm shorter and 6mm thinner than Pentax KP.
Here is the back view size comparison of the Pentax KP and Nikon D5500.
Now lets look at the top view comparison of Pentax KP and Nikon D5500.
Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.
Nikon D5500 is significantly lighter (283g ) than the Pentax KP which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.
Also keep in mind that body weight is not the only deciding factor when comparing two interchangeable camera bodies, you also have to take into account the lenses that you will be using with these bodies. Since both Pentax KP and Nikon D5500 have the same APS-C sized sensor, their lenses for a similar focal length and aperture will be similar in size and weight.
Weather Sealing
With its weather-sealed body, we believe that the KP has a big advantage over the D5500 which doesn't provide any kind of environmental sealing.
LCD Screen Size and Features
Nikon D5500's 3.20" LCD screen is slightly larger than Pentax KP's 3 screen.
